Most schools reveal their expectations gradually. Grand Canyon puts them on the table at the start, which reads as generosity until you notice that every one of these documents asks you to commit to something before you have the knowledge to commit properly.
That is not a flaw in the design; it is how programs built around a single long project have to work. It does mean the opening week of any Grand Canyon course contains at least one artefact that belongs to a much later week.

02Writing a commitment that can survive being wrong
The skill nobody teaches is drafting an early commitment loosely enough to remain true once you know more, and tightly enough to be approved. A problem statement naming a specific measure at a specific site will need rewriting when the site declines. The same statement written around a class of measures usually survives.
A tender who has sat on committees knows which words attract a revision request and which ones buy room. So the first hour goes on those few sentences rather than on the introduction, and the plan for the term is then drawn from them the way full class support draws a plan from a syllabus.
03Changing your mind later is priced in terms
Once the early sheet is approved it becomes the thing everything else is measured against. Faculty check alignment between it and each chapter, so amending one line means walking forward through every document that inherited it. That is a fortnight of quiet work at best, and at doctoral level it can cost a term.
Which is why a tender argues about the early commitment while it is still cheap. Two evenings spent testing whether the evidence for it actually exists, whether an organisation will genuinely open its doors, and whether the analysis can be run with the data you can reach, is the least expensive fortnight in the whole program. Longer projects then move chapter by chapter through capstone and dissertation.
04Two approvals, and the parts that stay with you
Project work here needs the organisation's permission as well as the review board's, and the two are separate requests answered by separate people. Neither can be hurried by explaining that your term ends in five weeks, so both are started early through IRB and research rather than when the syllabus mentions them.
What no tender takes on is straightforward. Time spent inside a real organisation is time you spend. An invigilated paper is written by you, in the room, on the day. Your courseroom credentials never leave your hands and are never requested.

Yes, and doctoral students often buy only that. The work covers the early strategic sheet, the chapters that grow out of it, the permission requests to a site and a review board, and the statistics behind the results.
