Almost nobody weighs this against anything real. It gets set beside a free-looking option called trying harder, which is why the decision feels moral instead of arithmetical. Trying harder is not on the list; you have done six weeks of it.
Four doors lead out of a course going badly, each with a figure behind it. Only one sends an invoice, so the rest get treated as free.
- Sit it again. Tuition twice for credits you paid for once, another term of evenings, and your place pushed to whenever the course next runs.
- Leave it. Cheaper than repeating while the date holds, though it costs the term, sometimes a notation, and often a conversation with whoever funds you.
- Let it fail. The mark stays on the transcript, the credits count for nothing, and a minimum grade rule sends you back anyway.
- Buy the hours. The only door that appears as a number on a screen, which is exactly why it feels larger than the three above.
02What moves the figure
No honest number exists before somebody has read your course, and a page handing you one has priced a guess. What can be said in advance is which details push a quote up and which pull it down, so you can guess roughly where yours lands.
Five things account for nearly all the distance between one quote and the next.
- Level. A doctoral chapter and a first-year post are not the same hour of anybody's life, and you buy the qualification behind the writing.
- How much is left. Eleven weeks costs more than the closing three, which can be bought on their own.
- How much reading it needs. Work leaning on sources somebody must go and find runs far longer than work built on one textbook.
- How compressed the term is. The same course in five weeks takes more of a tender's fortnight than in fifteen, and scarcity shows in the price.
- Whether it is urgent. Work booked with room in front of it costs less than work that must exist by Thursday.
03What arrives, and in what order
The first thing back is not a price. It is a reading of your course by somebody qualified in the subject: where the gradebook stands, what weight is open, and which door they would walk through. That takes under two hours and costs nothing.
Go ahead and one tender holds the course to the last submission. Drafts land in the first half of the week with the criterion each part answers beside them, so you can argue while there is time to change something. The weekly shape sits under full class support.
04Where the answer here is no
A practice running since 2009 turns work away weekly, and it is worth naming which work. A course whose remaining weight is a supervised sitting is not for sale, because that sitting belongs to whoever is enrolled and no account details are requested. What is offered instead is preparation.
The second refusal is arithmetic. Where the marks still open cannot carry you to the grade your program demands, buying them buys a better-looking failure, and you hear that in the first reply. Sometimes the advice is to step out while a clean exit remains, and a term already weeks gone gets that test before any plan.
Send the course, not the question
Program, course code, what remains open, and what the handbook says about late work. Somebody qualified in that subject answers before two hours are up.
Take the reading first
All four doors come back with a figure against each, including those costing nothing here. Plenty of people stop at this point, which is a fine outcome.
Buy only the parts you want
Nothing is bundled. The thread, the papers and the final piece are priced apart, so you keep what you would rather do yourself.
